2018 Eliminating Health Disparities Initiative Request for Proposals
The Minnesota Department of Health Center for Health Equity released a new Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Eliminating Health Disparities Initiative (EHDI) on September 6, 2018. The EHDI grant program was established to provide direct investments in organizations focused on improving the health and well-being of American Indians and people of color.

Funding Decisions
Final funding decisions were made based on community recommendations in April 2019 and applicants were immediately notified. A list of those selected for funding and a message from Director Bruce Thao regarding the funding decisions can be found on the Announcements page.

Timeline
RFP published: September 6, 2018
Notice of Intent due: October 5, 2018 (strongly encouraged, but not required)
Applications due: December 10, 2018
Anticipated notice of award: April 1, 2019
Grant period begins: July 1, 2019
Questions
The question and answer period closed on November 28, 2018. To ensure all applicants had access to the same information, questions submitted after November 28 were not be answered nor posted to the website.

Notice of Intent Form
Applicants were strongly encouraged to submit a non-binding notice of intent by October 5, 2018 using an online form. The notices of intent to apply help us prepare for the number and types of applications we will receive so that we can plan ahead for the review process. The Center for Health Equity received 164 Notice of Intent forms by October 5, 2018.

Information Sessions
Prospective applicants were encouraged to participate in at least one information session or watch a recorded video of the webinar. Questions and answers from the in-person information sessions were posted on our website after each session. Please note that staff were not able to help with the actual writing of applications or critiques of drafts, but answered general questions about the process and requirements.

Community Review Process
The Center for Health Equity recruited more than 130 volunteers from throughout the state to take part in the community review process. Teams of reviewers met in late February 2019 to discuss each application and offer final scores and recommendations for funding to MDH.
