Moving the race conversation forward (4:38) highlights the need to talk about race and racism at the systems level in order to advance racial justice.
This is a four-minute video that was developed to complement a longer report, "Moving the race conversation forward: How the media covers racism and other barriers to productive racial discourse." The report shares findings from a research study that analyzed media narratives related to race. The report documents seven harmful media practices, and offers alternatives to improve the cultural discourse. The video highlights one practice, and shows how a narrative based on individual experience misses the role that systems play in perpetuating racism.
