Achieving equity with Results-Based Accountability
Local and Regional Government Alliance on Race & Equity (GARE)
Achieving equity with Results-Based Accountability (1:32:49), focuses on using Results-Based Accountability to advance racial equity.
This 1.5-hour webinar describes how to use the framework and tools of Results-Based Accountability (RBA) to work toward greater equity in a community.
The first 30 minutes of the webinar focus on the importance of disaggregating data to identify racial inequities, and provide an overview of the RBA framework. The second 30-minute segment provides basic information about racial equity, racial bias, and structural racism, particularly within government programs and policies. It includes a lengthy discussion of implicit and explicit bias, as well as individual, institutional, and structural racism. The speakers use the final 25 minutes to highlight several examples and success stories, including many from local health departments. Speakers also share additional resources.
When to use
This webinar would be helpful for informing community health assessment and planning processes, developing performance measures, or planning local initiatives to address health equity.
You can use the RBA framework and related tools with community partners, to assist in the development of targeted strategies to address inequities. This could include inequities in school expulsion rates, high school graduation rates, ER visits for asthma, diabetes, and more.
The first segment of the webinar could be helpful to staff who work a great deal with data. You could use the second segment for staff development, to help build a shared understanding about the importance of addressing racism to advance health equity.
Things to consider
