Use MDH as a Trusted COVID-19 Resource
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has developed resources and guidance for community members, healthcare providers and more on the MDH Coronavirus webpage. For our health care providers, including long-term care and nursing homes, we would like to point specific Health Care: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) webpage for guidance. There is a MDH COVID-19 Hotline specifically for health questions: 651-201-3920 or 1-800-657-3903. This hotline is staffed daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can also subscribe to COVID-19 updates.
Additionally, we all know that this situation is mentally draining on everyone. Both the CDC and MDH have resources for Managing Stress and Anxiety during the pandemic, Taking Care of Your Emotional Health, and Behavioral Health and Emergency Preparedness for healthcare responders, parents/caregivers, teens, kids and families. There are also many free resources and apps available to guide us through healing meditation practices.
We at MDH Center for Health Information Policy and Transformation would like to recognize the incredible work being done by frontline health care and social service providers and those caring for others. We would also like to recognize the many MDH and public health folks working around the clock to monitor and slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
CMS Allows Temporary Expansion of Reimbursement for Telehealth
Earlier this week, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a temporary change around the approval of and reimbursement for telehealth services for Medicare beneficiaries. Medicare beneficiaries will be able to receive various services through telehealth including common office visits, mental health counseling, and preventive health screenings. This will help ensure Medicare beneficiaries, who are at a higher risk for COVID-19, are able to visit with their doctor from their home, without having to go to a doctor’s office or hospital. The announcement was announced in a press release. (3/17) hcinnovationgroup.com
