Lactation Station

Minnesota WIC Program

What is the Lactation Station?

The Lactation Station was created by myTalk107.1 radio to fill a need for a quiet spot for breastfeeding at the Minnesota State Fair. It is used by both fair-goers and women working at the fair. WIC is sponsoring the Lactation Station as a part of WIC’s on-going commitment to breastfeeding. Take a peek at the Lactation Station. Here is a Map (A hungry baby needs to eat anytime, anywhere - PDF) to the Lactation Station and other quiet places to breastfeed or pump.

WIC works with women and families to answer questions about breastfeeding and provides support throughout the time you are breastfeeding. Many WIC programs have breastfeeding peer counselors – women who breastfed and received training on breastfeeding, who offer additional support. Some WIC programs also have International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) on staff.

WIC also partners with others to build support for breastfeeding throughout the community, including hospitals, clinics, worksites, and more. Sponsoring the Lactation Station is one more way that WIC helps support breastfeeding.
