Environmental Review

An environmental review is required for all but exempt drinking water revolving fund projects, and it must be completed before the loan can be finalized.

This process is not difficult, but it will take several months to complete because there are mandatory waiting periods. Generally, the easiest way to proceed is to print a copy of the environmental review checklist and follow it, accessing additional documents or instructions when necessary.

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) will accept an environmental review approved by another state or federal agency if the review covers the drinking water project, and the MDH receives copies of the environmental review record and other agency approval.
