Since cancer is not a single disease, it does not have a single cause. The exact causes of many cancers are unknown. While many cancers do not have one specific cause, some cancers do have known risk factors. Certain types of cancer can be attributed to specific exposures. The known risk factors in this dashboard account for a significant proportion of cancer occurrence. These risk factors add up over many years to increase an individual’s chance of developing cancer.
