Clinical Guide to Services - Minnesota Dept. of Health

The Clinical Guide to Services is a comprehensive reference guide of testing services, shipping information, and submission requirements. Estimated turnaround time begins when PHL receives the specimen, not the date of shipment or courier pickup. Even though there are ongoing efforts to keep information current, some information may not be up-to-date due to recent changes in testing procedures and/or regulation. Many of these tests are only available with prior approval from MDH. If you cannot find what you are looking for in the guide, please contact us.

The Infectious Disease Laboratory is composed of five laboratory units: Enterics, Microbiology, Sequencing and Bioinformatics, Virology/Serology, and Emergency Preparedness and Response. This guide outlines most of the tests that can be performed at MDH-PHL and their specimen requirements. Many tests are only performed with prior approval of MDH. Some tests may not always be available, others are for research purposes only. Specimens may be referred to the CDC or another lab for further testing.
