Fee Schedule Information for the Infectious Disease Laboratory
What tests require a fee for service?
The Minnesota Department of Health will contract with and invoice non-exempt institutions for specifically identified primary diagnostic and reference testing. This includes:
- Mycobacterial smear and culture: Fee - $66-$68 per sample. Mycobacteria Specimen Requirements in Guide to Services
- Reference Identification for Mycobacterium sp. that are not M. tuberculosis: Fee - $66-$68 per sample. Mycobacteria Specimen Requirements in Guide to Services
- Reference Fungal Identification: Fee - $77 per sample. Fungal Specimen Requirements in Guide to Services

What tests are offered without a fee?
There will be no fee for any isolates or clinical materials submitted to the Department of Health as a requirement of the Infectious Disease Reporting Rule (Minnesota Rules, Part 4605.7040) or for specimens submitted as part of an investigation of an outbreak or for characterization of rare or novel pathogens.
