The Public Health Laboratory
A division of the Minnesota Department of Health
The Public Health Laboratory keeps Minnesotans safe and healthy through our three sections:
- Environmental Laboratory: Information for clients, including forms, guides and policies.
- Infectious Disease Laboratory: Resources for clinical submitters, including forms and a test directory. This section also encompasses the Minnesota Laboratory System (MLS).
- Newborn Screening Program: Information for parents and health care providers, including how to order educational materials and screening cards.
The Environmental Lab also collaborates with the Infectious Disease Lab’s Emergency Preparedness and Response program to constitute Laboratory Emergency Preparedness, which ensures the capability to respond rapidly to public health emergencies.
See also our What Is the Public Health Lab? page for information about our history, the services we provide, and more. If you are considering taking a position at the Public Health Laboratory, visit our Work at the Public Health Lab page.
