2018 Annual Report - Public Health Laboratory (PDF)

Highlights from the Public Health Laboratory's fiscal year 2018 annual report include:

  • How we worked with several stakeholders to begin screening Minnesota newborns for three new conditions, including spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)
  • Our development of new methods to analyze over 200 compounds for the Minnesota Drug Overdose and Substance Use (MNDOSA) surveillance project
  • Our role in making Minnesota the leading state in the nation for Radiation Emergency Preparedness exercise evaluations
  • The expansion of our use of whole genome sequencing to detect outbreaks and help determine the nature of the microbes that are causing disease in Minnesota
  • Collaborative projects to help improve the lives of Minnesotans
