Trauma Education for Hospital Nurses

The Trauma Education for Hospital Nurses are a series of 12 modules. This is an optional tool for use by hospitals which meet the Trauma Education requirements for inpatient nurses. Please request access to download the following e-learning modules.

Trauma Program 101

The Trauma Program 101 Course will be held on the following dates:

  • October 29, 2025, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 
    Astera Health, 421 11th St NW, Wadena, MN 56482
    Registration is now open.
  • April 16, 2026, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
    Mayo Clinic Health System, 800 Medical Center Dr, Fairmont, MN 56031
    Registration will open in Winter, 2025.

Register for the October 29, 2025 course: Trauma Program 101 Registration

All trauma program leaders (trauma program managers/coordinators, medical directors/medical advisors, CEO/administrators) of Level 3 and Level 4 Trauma Hospitals are encouraged to attend. Nursing Continuing Education Units (CEU) will be offered.

Highlights of the course will include:

  • Overview of the State Trauma System
  • Trauma System designation criteria
  • Trauma performance improvement (PI) concepts
  • Educational opportunities and networking for continuous growth of Trauma Programs

Performance Improvement Series

A Performance Improvement (PI) series will follow the Trauma Program 101 Course. This PI series is intended to be an interactive and in-depth learning of the topics introduced at the 101 course.

The PI series will be offered virtually from 9:30-11:30 am on the following dates.

While the Trauma Program 101 Course and the PI series can be taken in sequential order, it's not necessary. Take these courses as you can. All of these offerings will be repeated on an ongoing basis.
