The Minnesota Center of Excellence in Newcomer Health (MN COE) assists the CDC with the revision and integration of new content in various refugee screening guidance documents (CDC: Refugee Health Domestic Guidance). 

In addition, the MN COE develops and disseminates applications to improve clinician understanding of the screening guidance focused on newcomer populations, support implementation of guidance-directed care, and provide training and quality improvement on best practices.   This toolkit includes information regarding Afghanistan, health care and health outcomes in Afghanistan, traditional practices and cultural norms for pregnant and postpartum Afghan women, recommendations for providing OB-GYN care and general health care to new Afghan arrivals, and tools for providers and patients.
• Trauma-informed Care, Tools, and Treatment Strategies for Afghan Refugee Children
  This report is designed as an introduction to a child rights approach to trauma-informed care for Afghan refugee children and youth. It provides an overview of the trauma experienced by these families as they begin their readjustment to Minnesota and the United States.
• Afghan Cultural Adaptation of the Survey of Well-Being of Young Children (SWYC)
  Translation and cultural adaptation of the SWYC developmental screening tool in Pashto and Dari. This process ensured linguistic and cultural accuracy of the SWYC for the Afghan newcomer community, making it more accessible and relevant for caregivers.
