Borrelia mayonii (Lyme Disease)
Borrelia mayonii was identified in 2013 and found to cause an illness in humans similar to Lyme disease. In 2016, B. mayonii was officially determined to be a cause of Lyme disease. Small numbers of human cases have been reported to date in persons with exposure to ticks in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
