Vaccination percentages for kindergarten and seventh grade, 2021-22
Percent of kindergarteners vaccinated
Downloadable data: Percent of kindergarteners vaccinated (CSV)
This graph displays the percent of kindergarteners fully vaccinated for DTaP, HepB, MMR, polio, and varicella over the last 10 school years. Vaccination rates remain high, but there has been a 3-percentage-point decrease since the start of the pandemic, leaving many more students vulnerable to vaccine preventable disease.
Percent of kindergarteners vaccinated 2021-22
DTaP | Polio | MMR | Hep B | Varicella |
---|---|---|---|---|
89.0 | 89.3 | 89.0 | 93.5 | 88.5 |
Downloadable data: Percent of kindergarteners with in-progress or missing doses (CSV)
This graph displays the percent of kindergarteners with in-progress or missing doses over the last 10 school years. Rates of in-progress or missing doses have nearly doubled since the start of the pandemic. Students in this category may be behind on their vaccinations or may not have submitted all their documentation to their school. Ensuring school-age children get back on track is critical to ensure broad protection against vaccine preventable disease outbreaks.
Downloadable data: Kindergarten students exempt to all vaccines (CSV)
This graph displays the percent of kindergarten students exempt to all vaccines, broken up by school type for the 2021-22 school year. "Exempt to all vaccines" means that the student has an exemption to all required vaccines and does not include the students that are only exempt to one or a few vaccines. Private schools have the highest non-medical exemption rate, followed by charter schools. The statewide non-medical exempt to all rate is 2.4%. Medical exemption rates are low for all school types.

Percent of seventh graders vaccinated
Downloadable data: Seventh grade students fully vaccinated (CSV)
This graph displays the percent of seventh grade students fully vaccinated for meningococcal and Tdap over the last 10 school years. Coverage for the vaccines required for seventh grade students rebounded some in 2021-22 but remain 5 percentage points lower than coverage levels seen in 2019-20 school year. Coverage for the other vaccines required at this age remained unchanged during the pandemic, at around 95% or higher.

Downloadable data: Seventh graders missing vaccines (CSV)
This graph displays the percent of seventh graders missing Tdap and meningococcal vaccines over the last 10 school years. Rates of seventh grade students missing Tdap and meningococcal have more than doubled since the start of the 2019 school year.
Downloadable data: Seventh grade students exempt to all vaccines (CSV)
This graph displays the percent of seventh grade students exempt to all vaccines, broken up by school type for the 2021-22 school year. “Exempt to all vaccines” means that the student has an exemption to all vaccines and does not include the students that are only exempt to one or a few vaccines.
