Postpartum Depression Education Materials
The Postpartum Depression Education and Information Legislation was passed during the 2005 session of the Minnesota Legislature. This legislation requires hospitals to provide new parents and other family members with written information about postpartum depression. It also requires health care providers that serve pregnant women make available information on postpartum depression for pregnant women and their families.
In 2012, the Postpartum Depression Education and Information statute was amended to require that WIC clinics make information on postpartum depression, symptoms, treatment resources, and the potential impact on families, be available to women. Hospitals, health care providers, and WIC agencies can meet the requirements of this legislation by sharing this fact sheet with pregnant women and their families.
