Rural Clinical Rotations Grant Program

Eligible Applicants: The following types of clinical training programs, which may be part of institutions of higher education, hospitals, or other entities located in Minnesota, are eligible to apply for this funding:
Physician,
Physician assistant,
Advanced practice registered nurse,
Pharmacy,
Dentistry,
Dental therapy, and
Mental health professional programs.
All applicants must be able to demonstrate applicable membership and compliance with the corresponding accrediting bodies.
Rural Residency Training Grant Program
Intent to Apply Deadline: N/A
Application Deadline: Friday, October 30, 2026, 4:30 PM CT
Eligible Applicants: Eligible applicants are programs, sponsors, and potential sponsors of rural residency programs located in Minnesota. Program partners such as clinical training sites are eligible applicants for program sustainability funds (see RFP section 2.2). Eligible programs fulfill all the following criteria:
Train, or propose to train, medical residents in:
A new rural residency training program,
A new rural residency training track within an existing residency program, or
For medical residents, a community-based ambulatory care center that primarily serves the underserved and is proposing to add a rural residency training program or track.
- Train, or propose to train, medical residents in the following primary care specialties:
- Family medicine,
- General internal medicine,
- General pediatrics,
- General surgery,
- Geriatrics,
- Psychiatry, or
- Postdoctoral psychology.
- Are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME or the American Psychological Association or present a credible plan to obtain accreditation.
Dental Safety Net Grant Program
Letter of Intent to Apply Deadline: Friday, October 16, 2026, 4:30 P.M. CT
Application Deadline: Monday, December 14, 2026, 4:30 P.M. CT
Eligible Applicants:
- The provider is a nonprofit organization;
- The provider is not affiliated with, owned by, or managed by a hospital or medical group;
- The provider offers free or reduced-cost oral health care to low-income patients under the age of 21 with family incomes below 275 percent of federal poverty guidelines who do not have insurance coverage for oral health care services;
- The provider is eligible to become or is a Critical Access Dental provider, as designated by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and;
- Revised: The provider is able to demonstrate that more than 80 percent of patient encounters in the last 12 months were with patients who are uninsured or covered by Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare.
* Eligibility has been corrected to reflect that there is no age limit for patient encounters that providers must demonstrate.
Lead Remediation in Drinking Water in Schools and Child Care Settings

Applications for the Lead Remediation in Schools and Child Care Settings Grant must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Central Time, on the last day of each month. Applications received after the monthly deadline will be included in the following month's review and scoring process.

Primary Care Residency Expansion Grant

Community Clinic Grant Program
Intent to Apply Deadline: N/A
Application Deadline: Friday, October 30, 2026, 4:30 PM CT
Eligible Applicants:
- Nonprofit clinics established to provide preventative, medical, dental, or mental health primary care services to low-income or rural population groups.
- A government entity operating a clinic which provides preventative, medical, dental, or mental health primary care services.
- An Indian Health Services unit or Indian tribal government operating a clinic which provides preventative, medical, dental, or mental health primary care services; or,
- A consortium of these entities.
All applicant organizations must have a policy or procedure to ensure no person will be denied services due to inability to pay (e.g., sliding-fee scale).
