Information You Can Use

Minnesota Department of Agriculture

  • Minnesota Grown provides information about farmers markets in Minnesota and seasonal, locally grown produce.
  • The Agricultural, Growth, Research, and Innovation (AGRI) Farm to School and Early Care Programs support Minnesota school districts, early childhood education (ECE) centers, and family child care providers that want to buy and serve Minnesota agricultural products.

Minnesota Department of Health

  • A Field Guide to Salad Bars in Schools (PDF) provides information on how schools can expand the use of fruit and vegetable salad bars.
  • The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants & Children (WIC) is a nutrition and breastfeeding program that helps eligible pregnant women, new mothers, babies and young children. WIC provides nutrition education and counseling, nutritious foods, and referrals to health and other social services.

Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families

  • The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps Minnesotans with low incomes, including temporary low incomes, get the food they need for nutritious and well-balanced meals. The program provides extra support to help stretch a household's food budget and is not meant to cover all the groceries a family needs.

Minnesota Institute for Sustainable Agriculture

The institute brings together partners with diverse interests within the agricultural community with the goal to promote sustainable agriculture in Minnesota.

Public Health Law Center at Mitchell Hamline School of Law  

  • Healthy Eating Resources provides information on obesity and nutrition and other topics related to healthy eating.

University of Minnesota Extension 

  • University of Minnesota Extension has many resources to help improve food literacy, physical activity, food safety and healthy food access for Minnesotans and the food service industry.
  • SuperShelf works in partnership to transform food shelves to provide welcoming and respectful environments to access healthy food.
