2022 National Rural Health Day theme

This year's theme is "Driving change: Going the extra mile"

2022 NRHD

The MDH Office of Rural Health and Primary Care will be joining the 49 other State Offices of Rural Health as well as our rural health stakeholders from across the country in celebrating National Rural Health Day. It is an opportunity to celebrate the #PowerOfRural by highlighting the dedicated individuals and organizations driving and going the extra mile for rural Americans. The National Rural Health Day Stakeholder Tools offer an opportunity for rural stakeholders to engage in the #PowerOfRural movement! These free materials are available for you to use with broadband companies and organizations, philanthropy organizations, public health agencies, and rural health clinics. Share them with your rural networks!

2022 Twitter Chat

On November 16, at 2:00 pm ET, join RHIhub and NOSORH to discuss health literacy in rural America. They will be using the hashtag #RuralHealthChat to tweet with experts who are excited to share their knowledge. Everyone is welcome to provide comments, questions, or just follow along!

Collaboration carpool: Conversations with mission-minded rural stakeholders

2022 NIH Rural Health Day Seminar

Join the National Institute of Nursing Research on November 17, 12:00 p.m. ET, for the 2022 NIH Rural Health Day Seminar: Improving Rural Health through Research Dissemination and Implementation. The seminar will center on the intersection of rurality and other factors that impact how research is implemented with rural populations. The event features expert insights into the effects of social determinants of health, culture, race and ethnicity, sexuality and gender, chronic complex conditions, and the lived environments. Register for this free event.

2022 Minnesota Rural Health Awards

View our 2022 Minnesota Rural Health Awards. They are given annually to individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to improving rural health in Minnesota. Nominees may have contributed to rural health in any capacity: in a volunteer or paid position, as a health care provider or non–provider, and/or through policy or practice. Congratulations to our honorees!

2022 Minnesota Community Star

View the 2022 Community Stars ebook. to learn about Minnesota's awardee - Cass Lake Indian Health Service and Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Health Division. Their multi-disciplinary team conveyed the importance of taking a public health approach to protecting the community during the pandemic. As a result, the team was able to provide vaccinations to all, regardless of demographics.

NOSORH’s annual Community Star recognition program is one of the most popular features of National Rural Health Day. Each nominee represents someone working to improve the lives of those who call rural their home. Nominees may have contributed to rural health in any capacity: in a volunteer or paid position, as a health care provider or non–provider, and/or through policy or practice. Congratulations to our Minnesota honorees!
