WHEREAS: Rural health professionals, hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities in Greater Minnesota are dedicated to delivering high-quality, community-based care to all; and
WHEREAS: Rural hospitals and health systems are often major employers and economic drivers of rural communities and regions; and
WHEREAS: COVID-19 has taken a toll on health care workers throughout the state and on rural providers specifically, leading to significant burnout as these dedicated professionals worked to protect Minnesotans during the global pandemic; and
WHEREAS: Public and private sectors are working in partnership to build, support, and maintain a robust health care system and a vibrant environment for health care professionals serving Minnesota's rural and underserved populations; and
WHEREAS: Renewed focus on emergency medical services is vital to ensuring time-critical, lifesaving care across wide regions of rural Minnesota; and
WHEREAS: Meeting the health care needs of Minnesota's rural citizens requires commitment, innovation, and resourcefulness that reach across and beyond geographic boundaries or demographic challenges; and
WHEREAS: National Rural Health Day will be celebrated throughout the United States on Thursday, November 17, 2022. NOW, THEREFORE, I, TIM WALZ, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby proclaim Thursday, November 17, 2022, as:
RURAL HEALTH DAY
in the State of Minnesota.
