PHN residency for new graduates

Welcome to the public health nursing (PHN) residency for new graduates! We hope this residency will provide new nursing graduates in public health settings with the basic elements needed for a successful transition to public health nursing practice.

Are you interested in this program as a resident, future preceptor, or supervisor? Get started!

This residency is a joint venture between a PHN resident and a preceptor assigned to facilitate the resident's transition to practice. A flexible, one-year calendar provides monthly activities to be completed by the preceptor, the resident, and agency personnel providing orientation.

While this residency is designed to meet the needs of new nursing graduates hired in public health settings, experienced nurses new to public health may also benefit.
