Chapter 4732 Ionizing Radiation
Current rule: Minnesota Rule, Chapter 4732 - Ionizing Radiation
The Minnesota Department of Health , Radiation Control, X-ray Unit is considering amendments and possible new rules to Ionizing Radiation, Minnesota Rules, Chapter 4732. This rulemaking will update the current rules to address advances in equipment technology, scope of practice for operators of x-ray equipment, service provider responsibilities, inspection requirements, and other related matters.
MDH began this rulemaking project in 2016, but it was put on hold in 2020, when the COVID pandemic began. We are now restarting the rulemaking process and publishing a new request for comments.
Our regulated parties, namely physicists and facilities, and other stakeholders have repeatedly informed us that our rules are out of date, and they are eager for updates and revisions.
More information will be posted to this webpage as details become available. To get rulemaking updates, sign up for news & alerts below.
