Nurse Aide Registry
The Nurse Aide Registry lists nurse aides who have met Minnesota training and/or testing standards to work in nursing homes and certified boarding care homes. The registry also has information about nurse aides who have substantiated findings of abuse, neglect, and theft.
This is an online registry. Nurse aides, employers, and others can check the registry by using MDH's online system and the nurse aide's certificate number.
Announcements
The Find Training and Testing Sites page now includes a link to a map that shows all physical nurse aide testing centers across the state. The Nurse Aide Testing Locations map indicates all physical nurse aide testing centers across the state.
Minnesota State (Colleges and Universities) provides MDH-approved training programs with access to the Minnesota State Long-Term Care Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide Curriculum. MDH no longer manages access to this curriculum.
As of January 1, 2024, Minnesota State released a revised version of the Minnesota State Long-Term Care Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide curriculum, entitled Minnesota State Nurse Aide Curriculum 2024 Edition. Nurse Aide training programs who use this curriculum should plan to transition to the new version or notify MDH that they will be choosing an alternative.
Nurse aide training programs who currently use the Minnesota State Long-Term Care Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide curriculum have until June 30, 2024, to decide whether they will transition to the Minnesota Nurse Aide Curriculum 2024 Edition or choose another approved curriculum. This transition period allows programs to decide what is best for their budget and schedule.
What Do I Need to Do?
If you are using the current downloadable Minnesota State Long-Term Care Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide Curriculum: You have until June 30, 2024, to switch to the new version of the curriculum. Starting July 1, 2024, you will not be able to access the current curriculum, and it will not be considered an approved curriculum to use.
Before June 30, you must do one of the following:
- Transition to the Minnesota State Nurse Aide Curriculum 2024 edition, using the Minnesota State website. You can purchase the revised curriculum directly from the Minnesota State Nurse Aide Curriculum page.
- Note: If you choose this option, you may not combine portions of the old curriculum with the 2024 edition.
- Declare an alternative curriculum. A list of approved curricula is available on the Minnesota-Approved Training Curricula page of the Nurse Aide Registry website. Training programs who decide to use a different curriculum must notify MDH which curriculum they intend to use by emailing health.nar.coord@state.mn.us.
Training programs who choose to declare an alternative curriculum should note that they may not select the Minnesota State Health Care Core Curriculum/Nursing Assistant (HCCC/NA) as their new curriculum. This curriculum is being discontinued as of July 1, 2024, and will be removed from the list of Minnesota-approved curricula.
Exciting news! The new and improved Nurse Aide Registry system is available this week. This new system transitions MDH and the nurse aides to a fully digital experience, which streamlines and improves updates and renewals.
Active nurse aides and those endorsing from another state will be able to create an account, upload supporting documents, and submit their application online.
Nurse aides whose certificates are expiring soon must register an account in the new system and apply for a renewal.
Nursing Home and Certified Boarding Care Home facilities’ administrators must register an account to update staff reports real-time (no more semi-annual updates)!
